Sing Britten with Bowman

Saturday 5 October 2013, 10am

Come and enjoy a full day’s choral workshop, focusing on some of Benjamin Britten’s best- loved choral works, in this Britten 100 celebratory year. We will rehearse and later perform his Five Flower Songs, A Hymn to St Cecilia and also his epic church anthem Rejoice in the Lamb. One of the most memorable Mighty Mouse solos in performances of that work, came from the mouth of legendary countertenor James Bowman, a truly great British singer. James has kindly agreed to join us for our performance, alongside his accompanist Dr. Andrew Plant. Andrew is himself no stranger to the compositions of Britten, as he spent several years as Curator of the Britten Pears Library in Aldeburgh. Both will offer a Q&A session for participants in the afternoon, so that you can delve deeper into the world of Britten, both as composer and performer. You can also join us for a communal meal, for an extra charge of £5, in between the afternoon session and the concert. Music will be provided.

You can register on the day, but it will assist us in preparing for the day if you can register in advance by emailing tickets@leicestershirechorale.org.uk or by phoning 07792123630
