Leicestershire Chorale
Next event: War Requiem, Saturday 10 November

Saturday 16 December 2017, 7pm

Following what we hope to be the glorious success of our Verdi concert a month earlier, we turn to another giant of the popular choral repertoire in Handel’s oratorio Messiah. Arguably the most celebrated piece of classical music within the historical canon, Uppingham Parish Church has waited many years to hear Handel’s music again and we are delighted to be bringing such a celebrated work to a special venue for us as a choir. We last performed Messiah with a full period instrument band and four invited professional soloists. On this occasion, we present the work with single strings, no oboes and with step-out solos delivered by choir members themselves. In many ways this shows how far Chorale has developed as a group, now to be able to take on such a challenge with limited input from outside the organisation.
