SUMMARY:Ecce Sacerdos Magnus - Music for trombones and voices
DESCRIPTION:A celebration concert in the 200th anniversary year of the birth of Austrian composer Anton Bruckner (1824-2024) \nTom Williams Conductor\nNicholas Scott-Burt Organ\nAdrian France Director\, CTQ \nJoin us for a unique performance of music by renowned Austrian composer\, Anton Bruckner alongside his contemporaries from the glorious Romantic period. The programme focusses on masterpieces such as Bruckner’s famed Motets for trombones\, voices & organ\, and his instrumental Aequale for trombones; including rare and recently discovered works (including at least one UK Premiere & first modern day performance) of music for trombones & voices by fellow Austrian and lodger of Bruckner\, Wenzel Gottlieb Lambel. A cappella works and organ solos from the period offer further context to this musical feast. \nThe evening concert will be preceded by a workshop for trombonists of all ages\, with a chance to not only hear about the history and development of the trombone\, but also a rare opportunity to try out a number of rare original Romantic trombones – used for the Coronation of King Charles III.
