Carols for Passiontide including the world premiere of five such works by Welsh composer Gareth Treseder.

Gareth Treseder has been described by Schott music publishers as ‘One of the finest emerging choral composers of our time’. He has been commissioned by a variety of leading professional and amateur choral ensembles, including The Choir of the Temple Church, The Marian Consort, The BBC Singers, Farnham Youth Choir and the Swansea Bach Choir. His music has been performed on BBC Radio 3 and published by Boosey and Hawkes, Stainer and Bell and the RSCM. Hot off the press in 2024 are five carols for Passiontide, settings of medieval and other early texts which have yet to be published or receive their debut performance. It is a very exciting prospect that Gareth has agreed for our choir to be able to deliver this, in Uppingham Parish Church in March 2025! An event not to be missed…

We are currently rehearsing to bring you a concert of Leicestershire Chorale singing in person for you to watch with us on YouTube on 15 October at 7.30pm.

We are both rehearsing together, and will perform together in a socially distanced manner. This performance will be recorded before being made available for you and the members of the choir to view from the comfort of our own homes on YouTube.

The concert will feature some of Purcell’s most famous and well loved pieces including: Hear My Prayer; Remember not, Lord, our offences; and I was Glad.
